Welcome to the Athletes In Motion Tumbling / Gymnastics Tournament!  For most of you this will be your first Tournament.  We want this to be a good learning experience, and fun for all!  Every competitor is a winner!

Award medals will be presented to the top 3 winners in each division. After you have finished competing in your last event, remove your badge with your contestant number and turn it into the “Awards table” for your Participation Trophy.


EVENTS- All competition events were taught and reviewed in class several times in preparation for this competitive event. Competitors will be judged on: form/ style, balance/ motion, technique, confidence, proper sequence and overall performance.

BEST Front Somersault: (ages 4-7) Students will perform two front somersaults.
 
BEST Back Somersault: (ages 4-7) Students will perform two back somersaults.

BALANCE BEAM - ROUTINE: (ages 4-7) Step up onto beam, walk forward along beam, stop in middle and show a pivot turn and walk backwards to end of beam. Straight jump on beam, tuck jump, forward dips to middle of beam then kicks to end of beam, round off, off of end of beam.

FLOOR ROUTINE: (ages 4-7 Back roll to stand up, Cartwheel, ½ jump, hand stand roll out, lay on back push up to bridge, come down roll onto stomach, push up to straddle splits.

BEST Round-Off: (all ages) Students will perform two round-Offs. 

BEST CARTWHEEL (all ages) Students will perform two cartwheels. 

BACK WALKOVER (ages 8-12) Students will perform two back walkovers.  (Competitors will be judged on their landing (both feet facing forward), form /style, balance/ motion, technique, confidence and overall performance).

BALANCE BEAM – ROUTINE (ages 8-12) Step up onto beam, walk forward along beam, stop in middle and show a pivot urn and walk backwards doing dips on beam, straight jump on beam, tuck jump, cartwheel, forward roll, ‘V” sit stand up ½ turn, 2 step slit leap, round off at the end of beam to finish.

FLOOR ROUTINE: (ages 8-12) 2 step leap, Cartwheel, ½ jump, Hand stand into back bend, come down, (or come up), roll onto stomach, push up to splits, front roll to standing, round off.

Q. When & Where is the Tournament?

A. Saturday Morning   at the Caledonia Duncan Lake Elementary 
Auxiliary Gym  - 9757 Duncan Lake Road, Caledonia

Q. How do I get there? 

A. Take M-37  to Caledonia,  West on Main Street,
LH on School Road,
Turn R.H. on Johnson, Caledonia High is on L.H. Side.
Park in lot West of H.S. Gym.

Q. My Child is just a beginner...should they
        participate in the Tournament?
A. Absolutely!  Most of the competitors are beginning students.  
This is an experience all students should have...especially beginners!

Q. How do I register?

A. You can pre-register*  and save time  the day of the tournament by mailing the registration form to: -A.I.M. 10310 East Rivershore Drive, Alto, MI 49302 by March 22nd  or......
          -Register the day of the Tournament by arriving early: registration 9:00  until 9:30 am

Q. What time does it start and end?

A.  Competitors should arrive no latter than 9:15 a.m.   Will complete all four events by 1:00 p.m. 

Q. Is there an admission charge for spectators?

A. Admission is $2.00   5yr and under are FREE

Q.Who will the students compete against?

A. This tournament is exclusively for Athletes in Motion students!.  Students will only compete against students from their own age group. 

Q. What are the divisions?   (divisions my be combined as needed for competition)

A.Divisions:  Group I ages 4&5,  Group II ages 6 & 7,  Group III ages 8-12

Q. Does everyone receive a trophy?

A. Yes all contestants receive a ‘Participation Trophy’ which stand approximately 8”
tall on a marble base with a gold Gymnastics -figure on the top. Plus division finalists receive:
-1st place   Gold medal on neck ribbon  
-2nd place   Silver medal on neck ribbon
-3rd place    Bronze medal on neck ribbon

Q. What equipment is required?

A. Wear your class uniform or shorts and t-shirt .

Q. Are Parent Helpers Needed?

A. YES.....WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Contact your child’s instructor to help.  616-891-4445 

Q. Is there a competition for the Athletes In Motion Self -Defense students? 

A. Yes, the self-defense tournament for the Athletes in Motion students will run at the same time in the Caledonia High School- Main gym.  Check it out....your paid admission is good for both gyms.
